DYNAMiQS
Objectives
Enhancing our understanding of the fundamental physics and Fermi surface instabilities within transition metal trichalcogenides by introducing symmetry-breaking strain fields. Lattice dynamics and phase transitions will be explored through spectroscopic analysis, with a focus on examining their response to external factors (temperature and strain fields) as well as internal parameters (doping and intercalation).
DYNAMiQS
Ambition
Our ambition is to investigate phase transitions, particularly the charge density wave (CDW) state, in ZrTe₃₋ₓSeₓ single crystals. Our focus lies specifically around the quantum critical point, where x is approximately 0.03. Additionally, we aim to explore this phenomenon in intercalated samples of Ni and Cu. This entails subjecting the ZrTe₃₋ₓSeₓ crystals to both tensile and compressive homogeneous uniaxial strain fields.
About
Institute of Physics Belgrade
The Institute of Physics Belgrade (IPB), as the first National institute of the Republic of Serbia is dedicated to the study of physics and related disciplines. With over 200 researchers, it is a hub for scientific inquiry, contributing significantly to Serbia's scientific, educational, cultural, and socioeconomic development. Within the IPB, the Centre for Solid State Physics and New Materials is one of four Centres of Excellence, with over 40 researchers. The Centre provides a collaborative environment for researchers and students alike to engage in cutting-edge research activities and thus is recognized as the European Centre of Excellence for optical spectroscopy application in physics, material science and environmental protection.
